The bolt of wood ordered from Alaskatonewoods finally arrived today 14 weeks after the order date. It turns out it was behind a machine in the local post office for who knows how long. The post office is sending a letter of appology to Alaskatonewoods. |

That's great news for many I'm sure. I was reading the threads on the subject a week or so ago and man I felt very bad for the guys in Alaska. As a wood vendor I understand his frustration. We are at the mercy of the service we use and people and companies do make mistakes. It doesn't happen very often but, it does happen. And usually at the worst possible time. Anyway, I'm glad things worked out and the least the PO could do is send the letter. Maybe even give the next order FREE !!!! Time to eat some Humble Pie !! Huh.. |

My own "world record" was 16 days for an Express Overnight letter, sent from one city in Illinois to another city in Illinois. It was a check for several thousand dollars, and my client insisted he had sent it. Sure enough, it was postmarked the day he said he sent it - the Post Office just lost it for a couple of weeks! Very glad to hear that your transaction had a good resolution! Dennis |

That reminds me of the recent Presidential elections in Florida (where Jebb Bush, brother of our newly re-elected president, is the Governor. For those of you who don't know). The PO was handling the mail in ballots and coincidentally lost some 50,000+ mail in ballots from the, lets say, less than middle class voters. Mostly from the Black communities who are less than fond of our great leader. The mail ins were coincidentally found just after the deadline for receiving them. ![]() ![]() |

Keith and Alaskatonewood definitely caught a bad break. When the postal service is good it's very, very good and when it's bad it's awful. It works as it should most of the time. I've mailed more than 400 items to strangers in various parts of the world over the past three years and never had a problem. By the way, Brazilwood, your political commentary is 'way off topic. Why not save that stuff for the blogosphere? Although, I suspect even the bloggers might want you to cite a source for an assertion as flaky as that one. Well, maybe not the unhinged ones. D.. |

Dennis, If I'm not mistaken, the topic was regarding the US Postal Services lack of professionalism. So, my comment was "very much on topic". But, I will apologize for using a political example. By the way one source is: Washington Post -- November 1, 2004 by Manuel Roig-Franzia an Dale Russakoff Sorry, Lance..I"m done. ![]() |

Keith My order from Alaskatonewoods took 13 weeks. I live in Ca. so I was surprised it took so long. The post office said it either wasnt shipped when I was told it was OR it was sitting in a shipping yard in San Rafael waiting for someone to get around to handling it. I was told from the Post office "thats what you get when your package is shipped parcel post". |
